Here’s a breakdown of what the parental controls offer:

Play Time Limits:

Parents can set daily time limits for console usage and even suspend software when the limit is reached.

Age-Based Restrictions:

Parents can restrict access to games based on age ratings (e.g., PEGI or ESRB ratings).

Online Interactions:

Parents can manage communication and social media posting restrictions.

eShop Purchases:

Restrictions on purchases in the Nintendo eShop can also be set through the Nintendo Account settings.

Monitoring:

The app allows parents to view which games have been played and for how long.

PIN Protection:

A PIN is used to access and modify the parental control settings on the console.

App Integration:

The Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app (available on iOS and Android) provides more in-depth control and monitoring capabilities than the on- console settings.

GameChat Control:

For the Nintendo Switch 2, the app allows parents to manage which friends their child can communicate with via GameChat.

You have two options when it comes to adding parental controls to the nintendo switch console.

Option 1:

You activate and control the settings o

n the console itself.

This is quick and easy but lacks some of the control.

Option 2:

You download the parental controls app for eithe IOS or Android.

This alows you to have more control and monitor your childs usage in your own time and on your own device.

Lets first take a look at setting up parental controls on the switch itself.

Setting up parental controls on the switch console.

1. Access Parental Controls:

2. Choose Console Setup:

When prompted to use the smart device app, press the X button to select “I Don’t Have a Smart Device” and then “Next”.

3. Set Restriction Level:

You can choose from preset restriction levels (Child, Pre-Teen, Teen) or select “Custom” to manually adjust individual settings.

4. Customize Restrictions:

You can restrict software by age rating, limit communication features, or restrict VR mode usage.
